Session Title |
Keeping TWI Alive at Your Company:
“Principles 1st, Culture 2nd, Practices 3rd,
Tools 4th!” |
|
Session Abstract |
TWI died in the United States
immediately after World War II. Just as TWI
makes its re-emergence onto US soil once again,
we must ask ourselves, will TWI die another
death?
TWI was born out of a crisis. It is reborn yet
again out of another crisis, in fact, multiple
crises. When our current crises end and our
replaced with new different crises, will TWI
have the fortitude and stamina to sustain itself
on American soil as it has on Japanese soil for
decades?
TWI’s sustainability in the US and within
individual companies all depends on why an
organization is “doing” TWI and if the
organization’s principles, culture, and
practices are aligned with principles of TWI and
Lean.
This presentation will compare and relate the
principles of TWI, Lean, Dr. Deming, and
Leadership. It will stress the importance of
adapting the principles of TWI into an
organization’s culture and practices, and will
demonstrate common business practices today that
do not support TWI’s principles, thus making TWI
a fragile entity once again.
