Becoming a TWI Culture: Rosie the Riveter
Meet “Big Bertha and the Green Machine”
David Welch
In this session
you will hear about how Nebraska Furniture Mart, a legendary
retail store implemented TWI Job Instruction. The session
will provide details of not only what went into the
planning, strategy, outside the box thinking, team building,
but the results and lessons learned as well. Starting in
2009 Nebraska Furniture Mart started its journey on becoming
a Lean Culture and an Operations Excellence Team was
created. The team identified that standardized on the job
training between current store locations is essential to the
current and future success of the company. As a result TWI
has played a large factor in enabling the company to open a
new store location in 2015 that will employ 2000 new staff
members. Implementing TWI at Nebraska Furniture Mart has
created a playbook for training new and current staff that
has had a positive impact on employees and the company’s
success.
